Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
