Tributes Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public personalities expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide could have acted when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
